Applications

Gallery & Museum

Precise accent lighting with excellent colour rendering for exhibitions — flexible enough to follow every new hang.

Recommended CRI
≥ 95
Sensitive works
≈ 50 lx
Aiming angle
≈ 30° from vertical

Exhibition lighting has two jobs: show the work as the artist intended, and protect it. Light sources must render colour faithfully and emit no UV or IR in the beam.

Approach

  • Colour: specify CRI 95 or higher; the Ra 98 options in the range are intended for this work. Check R9 for paintings with strong reds.
  • Beam: narrow spotlights for single objects, wide beams or wall-washing modules for large canvases. Aim at roughly 30° from vertical to avoid reflections on glazed frames.
  • Flexibility: every exhibition changes. Track and magnetic systems let curators re-aim and re-position without new wiring.
  • Conservation: sensitive works are often limited to 50 lx; robust objects 150–200 lx. Dimmable drivers make these targets easy to hit.

Typical selection

Track spotlights with COB reflectors and magnetic system spotlights with 15° and 24° optics, plus linear modules for even wall washing.
