Description
Overview
The Malta COB Recessed Spotlight is a ceiling-recessed, tiltable accent luminaire designed for applications where colour fidelity and optical precision are primary requirements. Three body sizes — 55 mm, 85 mm and 105 mm aperture — allow specification across a range of ceiling depths and load levels from 9 W to 30 W.
Optical and Mechanical Construction
Light is produced by a Cree COB (chip-on-board) source, delivering CRI greater than Ra 92 across all variants and a verified Ra 94 on the 9 W version. The die-cast aluminium housing is formed as a single piece, acting as both structural body and heatsink. A white outer ring pairs with a choice of matte white, matte black, matte silver or orange inner cup to tune the visual weight of the fitting in the ceiling plane. Three interchangeable beam optics — 15°, 24° and 36° — are available, and the head tilts ±30° for directional accent work.
Driver and Power
The luminaire is powered by an Igor driver accepting a wide input range of 85–265 V with a power factor of 0.9, making it compatible with most single-phase supplies globally.
Typical Applications
Retail display lighting, gallery and museum accent illumination, hotel lobbies, restaurant dining areas, and residential feature lighting where tight beam control and accurate colour rendering are specified.
